A few quick and interesting videos on cloaking. Hey Jason
A big thanks to the Georgia Straight for the shoutout in your latest issue. If you haven’t seen it yet, we got a mention in an article on Makerspaces. It’s worth a read and shows you some of the folks running spaces in Vancouver. http://www.straight.com/life/734836/makerspaces-connect-people-and-projects-vancouver
My Kano has finally shipped and I figured I’d share the details about it with the community. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a really well done raspberry pi computer for kids. Here’s a link to the overwhelmingly successful Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alexklein/kano-a-computer-anyone-can-make And here’s a link to their site: http://kano.me/
Jason recently spent some time reskinning his Scratch project he was doing with his kids to turn it into a Fraser Valley Makerspace version. If you haven’t heard of Scratch and you have kids interested in programming you should read more about it here: http://scratch.mit.edu/ And of course you should take 5 and get nostalgic here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/16126245/ Thanks Jason!
A big thanks to the Vancouver Hackspace for hooking us up last time Jason was in there!
Porter’s is open late Fridays, so it only makes sense to open up the space for some wired wiring! Doors open at 7pm and stay open as long as people are in the building. Come by for some brown nectar of the gods. Hang out, code, solder, etc. Did we mention you can get delicious coffee??? COFFEE!!!
This is one of my fave instructables to date. Not only is the end product amazing but the level of detail on the build really gets the wheels turning in a lot of directions. http://www.instructables.com/id/Oak-Wine-Barrel-Coffee-Table/ Be sure to checkout John’s site as well, what a talented guy! http://www.johnwhitmarsh.com/
I’ve been dying to try something like this for a long time. Hopefully in the next month or so I can give it a crack at doing a FVM print for the space. Anyone out there interested in helping me or has experience with generative art I’d love to hear from you – email@example.com. from ideo labs
I just thought I’d put up a reminder that the first 3D604 night is quickly approaching. Mark your calendar for June 26th from 6 to 9pm – 4612 216 Street in Langley.
